About 1st Choice Academy
1st Choice Academy is Florida Autism Center's full day private school is the perfect solution for a child needing individual attention and education. Using Applied Behavior Analysis blended with the look and feel of a ‘regular' classroom, our low-ratio program strives to tailor each child's education to their needs.
Florida Autism Center is firmly committed to the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis. Our created curriculum, the FAC model, pulls from several established and respected curriculums. Our language programs are based in the foundations of B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. We use components of Early Intervention for Young Children with Autism, Florida Sunshine State Standards, The VB-MAPP assessment, and many other tools to create a dynamic curriculum that uses the best of what is found in‘typical’ classrooms and cutting edge technology from the fields of Applied Behavior Analysis and Applied Verbal Behavior.
Our Executive Director is Chrystin Bullock, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and graduate of Ohio Northern University and the Florida Institute of Technology. Chrystin started the Florida Autism Center with the goal of providing intensive treatment to young children with autism but allowing them a fun, social setting in which to learn. Chrystin has been published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and is a founding member of the Greater Orlando Chapter of Applied Behavior Analysis (GOABA).
She has contributed articles to numerous publications for autism, education, and special needs and has been a featured speaker at autism events in Central Florida. Mrs. Bullock also serves on the board of a non-profit organization dedicated to raising scholarship funds for young children with autism, Make a Difference Fund, Inc.
Chrystin is active in Florida Autism Center’s day-to-day activities, and enjoys having the opportunity to work one-on-one with a child. Chrystin is an entrepreneur with interest in promoting the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Her growth vision for Florida Autism Center is that the organization becomes the premiere provider of early intervention autism services in the state of Florida.
Professionally, Chrystin is most interested in verbal behavior training, with specific interest in acquisition of vocal speech. Chrystin enjoys children of all ages and abilities, but her most preferred population to work with is children with language delays or autism, ages 10 months through 4 years. Personally, her interests include spending time with her husband, Todd, and young daughter, Ella, especially doing outdoor activities. |
